Because it acts like your unique ID for your Google account.

There are a couple of workarounds that might be helpful though:

Use Email Forwarding

I’ve already covered that here: How to Change Gmail Address in Under 1 Minute.

Change Your Display Name

1. Open Gmail in a web browser and click the Settings icon.

    2. Select See all settings >Accounts and Importtab.

    3. UnderSend mail as, find the email address you want to update and click Edit info‘.

    4. Enter your preferred display name, ensure the radio button is selected, and click Save changes‘.

Your new display name will now appear when sending emails.

    Use An Alias

    • Go to Settings (gear icon), ChooseSee all settings.
    • Navigate to theAccounts and Import tab.
    • In the Send mail as section, click Add another email address.
    • Enter your desired display name and the email address you want to connect.
    • Verify ownership and save your changes.
